The general secretary and parliamentary spokesperson of the Popular Party of Castile-La Mancha, Carolina Agudo, denounced the “serious situation of corruption that the PSOE is going through” and warned that the party is, according to him, “in a process of decomposition … unprecedented in democratic history. This was stated this Friday during a press conference held in Toledo, during which pointed the finger directly at the regional president, Emiliano García-Pagefor his role in supporting the government of Pedro Sánchez.
Agudo criticized the fact that although searches and investigations continue in different state agencies, “Socialist leaders remain silent” and accused the PSOE of having “institutionalized corruption and degraded institutions.” In his speech, he regretted lack of public explanations from socialist leaders given the seriousness of the cases being heard.
The leader of the PP focused on the attitude of socialist leaders who define themselves as feminists and criticized their failure to report alleged cases of sexual harassment which, according to various reports, had been kept quiet within the party itself. In this sense, he declared that “no socialist leader has given explanations as to why women’s complaints against PSOE officials have been suppressed, even in Castile-La Mancha.”
Agudo also recalled the statement recently issued by the current Council delegate in Ciudad Real, Blanca Fernándezwhom she blamed for hiding a report when she was Equalities Minister. As noted, “it was she who, as equality advisor, kept a report in a drawer according to which warned of serious consequences of ‘only yes means yes’ law“. In this context, he criticized the fact that “those who remained silent while their colleagues engaged in prostitution with public money or while complaints of sexual harassment were hidden are now trying to teach lessons.”
“Calculated silence” per page
The parliamentary spokesperson of the PP of Castilla-La Mancha also criticized Emiliano García-Page for his attitude towards the situation that the PSOE is going through at the national level. He denounced what he called the regional president’s “calculated silence” and said “The page has been missing since December 3 and he limits himself to making headlines wherever he is, but he does not act.
In this sense, Agudo emphasized that the President of the Government remains in office thanks to the support of the socialist deputies of Castile-La Mancha. “Sánchez governs thanks to the votes of the eight socialist deputies of Castilla-La Mancha, the eight votes of Emiliano García-Page”, he assured, before insisting that “it is Page who keeps Sánchez in La Moncloa or who could make him stop being so”.
For all these reasons, the popular leader urged the regional president to take a step forward and assume his political responsibilities. He therefore asked Page “to demand Sánchez’s resignation“, to withdraw the support of its deputies, to force the dissolution of the Cortes Generales and to allow the Spanish people to elect a new government”, while demanding that the PSOE “apologize for what is happening”.
