Controversy in Extremadura, just three days before the 21-D autonomous elections. The Popular Party denounces that, during the night of this Wednesday, the headquarters of the Post Office of the municipality of Badajoz, Fuente de Cantos, was penetrated and, later, … to open the safe, all mail-in voting was stolencorresponding to several neighboring towns, such as Bienvenida or Calzadilla de los Barros. The popular assures that there were also attempts, without success, to steal the postal vote in two other municipalities, Torremejía and Santa Amalia.
The person responsible for making the facts known was the general secretary of the Popular Party of the region, Abel Bautista, who described the events as “extremely serious”: “There is someone, in an organized way, probably more than one, two or three people, who, in a coordinated way, entered the Post Office with one goalwho was taking the vote,” he said.
Bautista demands that the Electoral Board conduct an urgent investigation to clarify the facts and establish an “extraordinary procedure” so that aggrieved citizens can vote again: “If the right to vote cannot be guaranteed in a democracy, what kind of state do we have? The popular leader even went further, assuring that “they are stealing our democracy”.
The PP also launched a call for mobilization and massive voting next Sunday, to “respond” to the ballot boxes: “I am not asking for a vote for the Popular Party“I ask for a mobilization of all Extremadurians.” All, a few hours later, the popular had already reported incidents with their ballots during postal voting.
