The spokesperson for the Popular Municipal Group of Toledo City Hall, José Manuel Velasco, regretted this Tuesday that the socialist councilors “Be more conscious of your chairs than solving the problems of the people of Toledo“, and defended that the current team … of Government “returned to Toledo the direction and planning that for years had been lacking in the city.”
“Governing is knowing what we want for Toledo today and tomorrow, making courageous decisions, even if they are not always popular, and having a clear roadmap,” the PP said in a statement.
In this sense, he showed that after years of inaction and lack of direction“Today the city has a government that complies, plans and works every day for the development of Toledo.”
The “popular” spokesperson recalled the many unfulfilled commitments of previous socialist governments, among which he cited the lack of progress in the Municipal Urban Plan (POM), the absence of actions in Vega Baja, the problems of access to the university hospital, the lack of foresight in the Palomarejos neighborhood or the non-existence of promised improvements in sports and security facilities.
“This lack of rigor and these empty promises are probably why they are in opposition today,” said Velasco, who pointed out that “in just two years, this government has done more for Toledo than the others in the last eight years.”
Indeed, the spokesperson for the Municipal Popular Group regretted that the local PSOE “insists on a negative and catastrophic discourse, more concerned with exhausting the Government than helping the city” and warned that “citizens know how to distinguish between constructive criticism and constant disqualification”, and urged the opposition to “bank on institutional loyalty and on real proposals that meet the needs of residents”.
“Today we cannot come and demand what yesterday they were incapable of accomplishing, Toledo does not need destructive opposition; “It requires common sense, responsibility and the ability to collaborate,” he said.
Budget paralysis
Likewise, Velasco denounced the budgetary paralysis of the Spanish government, which “directly affects the development of Toledo” and delays strategic projects such as the connection of Toledo (AP-41) with Ocaña (R-4), the third lane of the TO-23, the lighting of the A-42 that crosses the city, the ring road of this national road or the improvement of the AVE line Madrid-Lisbon, “this situation reflects the lack of capacity of the socialist government to govern effectively and defend the interests of Toledo,” he added.
Velasco reaffirmed the commitment of the Popular Municipal Group with “a serious, responsible and constructive policy, we are not committed to the impossible, we promote what we believe is achievable and that is good for Toledo”, he emphasized.
Finally, the “popular” spokesperson thanked the mayor and councilors of the municipality for “their tireless work, their commitment and their love for Toledo”, and concluded that “we govern with rigor, proximity and transparency, because we believe that Toledo does not move forward by looking back, but rather by learning from its mistakes, listening to the people of Toledo and betting on everything that unites us.”
