The PSOE, embodied as a popular accusation in Villarejo affairthere is now a request for the Juzgado de Instrucción 6 de la Audiencia Nacional to cite as accusations against María Dolores de Cospedal, former secretary general of the PP, and her ex-pareja, Ignacio López del Hierro, for her alleged relationship with the maneuvers designed to prevent her from Gürtel affair has spread to the Conservative Party. In a closed writing this December 3, where all access to EL PAÍS, the socialists denounced that for years certain “judicialized” audios were “hidden”, recorded by the commissioner José Manuel Villarejo and those “situated” by the former popular leader in “this criminal conspiracy”.
Cospedal and López del Hierro were imputed in pieza number 7 of the caso Villarejocentered on Operation Kitchen —the parapolice plot woven during the time of Jorge Fernández Díaz as Minister of the Interior in the government of Mariano Rajoy, whose goal was to steal compromising documents held by the former Luis Bárcenas of the PP—. But after completing his research, investigating judge Manuel García-Castellón agreed to leave the couple out of the case in the process. In April 2022, the Criminal Court of the Audience evaluated this decision of the magistrate.
However, EL PAÍS published in May 2022 an unknown audio from Villarejo where Cospedal was heard saying: “Oye, and the famous libretita (by Bárcenas), you think it’s rubbish? (…) That’s why I’m calling you… the libretita… it would be better to be able to stop it”. This conversation took place in mid-2013, a few days before EL PAÍS published the so-called Bárcenas Notebooks, which reflected the parallel accounting of the PP that the extesorero had taken over the years. After the broadcast of this request, the PSOE and the Fiscalía asked to return to investigate the involvement of the former general secretariat, but Judge García-Castellón refused to appreciate the “new facts” against the policies of the PP. La Sala confirmed this in 2023: “If the conversations which contain it are unknown, when they are not obviously cut, they are complete and the context is unknown”.
In its new writing, the PSOE explains that it now knows — after having access last November to a police office in 2023 — that three years ago three complete audios of these conversations between Villarejo and Cospedal were incorporated, and on the ground the parts published by the press. These files will be placed on the Pieza 34 of Villarejo affair —open to accumulate audio broadcast by communication media—, and not in Pieza 7 on this subject Kitchen casewhich had already been referred to court – its start is scheduled for next May -. “The judicial audio files were hidden for three years; on the other hand, for more than two years, the simple reading of a report from the judicial police,” criticizes the PSOE.

The socialists denounced that the judge does not allow access to the entire file, including a part that does not weigh on the secret summary: “In practice, this situation prevents the execution of a criminal action with all the guarantees and marks a red line in the investigation into the involvement of the PP in the Cuisine plot and in other illicit accusations of Commissioner Villarejo, favoring the impunity of those responsible”, insists the party, which affects the “serious risk of prescription which generates a lack of dynamics procedural, prolonged inactivity and lack of access to actions.
