SAIZ AND TOLÓN REPLACE PILAR ALEGRÍA
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Monday the appointment of Milagros Tolón as the new Minister of Education and the appointment of the current Minister of Integration, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, as the new Government Spokesperson.
Sánchez announced this in an institutional statement from La Moncloa, revealing the necessary changes in the government following the departure of Pilar Alegría, who is leaving office to run as the PSOE candidate in the regional elections in Aragon on February 8th.
Tolón (Toledo, 1968) is a deputy in the Congress of the province of Toledo and was previously a government delegate in Castile-La Mancha. She previously served as mayor of Toledo for eight years and also served as second vice-president of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
For her part, Saiz (Pamplona, 1975), before becoming Minister, was PSN candidate for mayor of Pamplona in the 2023 local elections and Minister of Economy and Finance in the Government of Navarre in the last legislative period. She was also a government delegate in Navarre between 2008 and 2012.
