The PSOL plans to adopt measures against the President of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), after the forced expulsion of deputy Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) from the plenary by agents of the Legislative Police.
On Tuesday (9), Braga occupied the chair of the presidency to protest against the inclusion on the agenda of his impeachment process. The session was then suspended, the TV Câmara broadcast was interrupted and the Legislative Police were called to expel him.
“We have sent letters requesting information on who ordered that the TV Câmara broadcast be interrupted and that the journalists be forcibly removed from the premises, because Motta denies that this was his order,” said PSOL president Paula Coradi.
Coradi, who is in Brasilia, claims that the party headquarters is coordinating with other deputies ways to block the revocation of the parliamentarian’s mandate, scheduled to be voted on this Wednesday (10).
According to her, Tuesday’s episode violates the decorum of the position and demonstrates that Motta “has lost the ability to preside over the House.”
The leader also criticized the fact that Glauber Braga’s case was discussed at the same time as that of MP Carla Zambelli (PL-SP), arrested in Italy after fleeing the country in June, after the STF ordered her arrest.
“Motta has lost the plot. This is an attempt to lump the two together. We are talking about a person convicted by the courts and Glauber, who kicked a person outside the House,” he said.
The episode cited by Coradi occurred last year, when Braga had a disagreement with MBL activist Gabriel Costenaro in the House and attacked him with a kick.
After the riot, the MP said he had no regrets. Right-wing parliamentarians said they would call for his dismissal. Both men were taken to the Legislative Police Department to make statements.
