The Oral Criminal Court II of La Plata was faced with a new definition in the case in which Felicitas Alvite is accused. The young woman, known to the public as “La Toretto”, requested permission to leave her home in Gonnet and work as a babysitter, but the request was rejected by the prosecution chamber and she is now awaiting a court decision.
The lawsuit was filed by lawyers Flavio Gliemmo, Santiago Irisarri and Luisina Gliemmo, who argued that Alvite must work “because of his age and because he is not studying.” The reaction was immediate: the public prosecutor’s office, led by Martín Chiorazzi, maintained the prosecution’s position and represented the family of Walter Armand, the 36-year-old motorcyclist who died after being hit on the corner of 13th and 32nd Avenues.
In this scenario, the defendant’s future employment was subject to the assessment of the court, which has not yet set a deadline for the decision. The decision will determine whether Alvite can leave his home to care for a one-and-a-half-year-old child while under house arrest.
Authoritarians don’t like that
The practice of professional and critical journalism is a mainstay of democracy. That is why it bothers those who believe that they are the owners of the truth.
Alvite is being tried for “simple homicide with possible intent,” a felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison. The same file also brings to trial Valentina Velázquez, who is charged with “speed control” for her alleged involvement in the vehicle maneuver that led to Armand’s death in a nighttime accident. Both of their driving licenses remain revoked.
The call to work contributes to a cause that is still passing through important instances. The third preliminary hearing has been rescheduled for February 18, 2026 at 9 a.m. and will be held in person. The court justified the postponement by its busy agenda and the need to further clean up the evidence presented by the parties in accordance with Article 338 of the Buenos Aires Code of Criminal Procedure.
There was a tense atmosphere at the preparatory hearings in October. In the second session, held on the 28th of this month, Alvite’s defense denounced an alleged concealment of evidence during the investigation and again questioned the actions of UFI 12 prosecutor Fernando Padován. A large part of the witness list was also determined and the request to summon Padovan to the oral hearing was rejected.
In the statement of claim, Armand’s relatives reiterated their demand that the trial proceed without delay and that the date for the oral hearing would finally be set at the next hearing.
