He Puente Genil City Hall finalized the transfer of Phosphorite Room at the exhibition hall of the House of Culture “Alcalde Manuel Baena Jiménez”, “a more suitable space for the conservation and dissemination of heritage linked to Antonio Fernández Díaz, “Fosforito”, … one of the great figures of flamenco,” indicates the Consistory in a note.
The Councilor for Education, Culture and Tourism, María Delgado, explained that this change “will allow us to enhance and make more accessible to citizens and visitors a unique collection which includes pieces as relevant as the Clé d’Or du Cante.
The new room offers a complete tour of career and legacy of maestro pontan, with personal objects, documents, photographs and distinctions that tell of his decisive contribution to flamenco singing.
As a novelty, the Town Hall has also set up a specific space dedicated to Juan García Ruiz, “Niño Hierro”, another fundamental reference of local flamenco. His heritage, now integrated into the discourse of the exhibition, “enriches the visit and allows us to contextualize the evolution of song at Puente Genil through two essential figures,” the note continues.
The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Sunday at calendar in the morning, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday afternoons, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
