The rapporteur of the bill that puts an end to the 6×1 work schedule in the country, MP Leo Prates (PDT-BA), presented on Friday (12/6) a replacement of the text. The parliamentarian set a maximum working day of 40 hours per week, with five days on and two days off.
The text provides that the new rule will be introduced gradually until its full application in 2028.
Prates also proposed that companies and workers could negotiate, via a collective bargaining agreement or agreement, the implementation of the 4×3 workday. This model allows employees to work four days and rest three days, with a limit of ten hours per day. However, the weekly total of 40 hours will be maintained.

“It is undeniable that the proposal to reduce the maximum working time from 44 to 40 hours per week constitutes a relevant intervention in the labor market, the short-term economic consequences of which must be taken into account (…). This is why the provision of a gradual reduction in working hours and the adaptation of the working schedule are the solution to mitigate possible risks,” declared the rapporteur.
The project, drawn up by PCdoB deputies, is in the House working committee, with no voting date for the moment. The text is being developed simultaneously with the draft amendment to the Constitution (PEC) which aims to modify the 6×1 trip, presented by MP Erika Hilton (PSol-SP) in 2024.
