The Government of Castile-La Mancha has decreed Asset of cultural interest, in the Intangible Asset category, Villarta de San Juan Peace Festival (Ciudad Real) to be a “unique” celebration, which has mixed devotion, tradition and gunpowder for centuries.
This was announced by the spokesperson for the regional government, Esther Padilla, this Wednesday, during a press conference, where she recalled that It has also been declared a Festival of Regional Interest..
The Peace Festival of Villarta de San Juan is a popular and religious festival that takes place between January 23 and 26. During these days, the inhabitants of the commune gather at different points and events of these festivities such as the bonfire, the floral offering, the procession or the use of rockets and gunpowder as a symbol of gratitude and petition during the procession.
“Around thirty clubs launch almost 30,000 rockets during the procession and at the end they launch the famous ‘Operation 2000’, where they launch 24,000 rockets in one minute,” Padilla detailed.
Annual regulatory plan and public action plan
On the other hand, the Government Council also approved the Annual Regulatory Plan and the Public Action Plan for the year 2026, in order to provide information to citizens on the laws, decrees, plans and strategies that will be proposed next year.
Regarding the Regulatory Plan, they will be 17 invoicesamong which are the Finance law; THE Industry Lawwhich will allow the creation of its own industrial regulatory framework in the region; wave Geographic Information Actfor infrastructure management, environment, environmental protection.
The spokesperson for the Regional Government assured that next year all ministries and vice-presidencies will have the approval of some type of regulation, law or decree to develop public policies in the region.
Regarding the Public action planby 2026 there will be five strategies and ten plans in areas such as employment, health, environment or rural development. Among them, the maintenance and development of extensive livestock farming, the Forestry Plan, the Strategy for the Promotion of Self-Employment 2026-2030, the III Strategic Equality Plan or the Plan for Improving Access to Primary Care stand out.
