Originally released in 1995, “The Beatles: Anthology” documentary series was a landmark in many ways. In eight episodes of approximately ten hours, the program is supported by a huge collection of never-before-seen archival images, performances and interviews. Never before has a pop artist, or any artist for that matter, received such a comprehensive and immersive retrospective on television. Above all, “Anthology” made possible the group’s long-awaited reunion — if only in a symbolic way. On that occasion, the three surviving Beatles recorded two new songs, “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love”, both created from a demo tape left by John Lennon.
