As if it were a video of graffiti artists sneaking onto the railway tracks to paint a car from top to bottom, equipped with sprays, saws and masks in the middle of a rainy December night, young people abertzales They headed towards their goal: slaughter the last Osborne bull in the Basque Country.
And they did. The creators claimed the “feat” on their networks, alleging that the demolition of the effigy had been “by the Spanishist”. Behind this act of “street terrorism” is found Ernaïleft-wing youth organization abertzale who qualifies as “revolutionary” within the Basque nationalist spectrum.

The before and after of the last Osborne bull in the Basque Country.
“Ernai released the Osborne bull from Ribabellosa last night. It was the last Osborne bull standing in the Basque Country. Spanish symbols have no place in the Basque Country. Done with action. Independence, young people!”, the organization published with great fanfare on its X profile.

“The objective is to achieve a Free, socialist, feminist and Basque-speaking Basque Countryand to achieve this, Ernai’s main function is the construction of Youth Power through the development of a youth strategy”, reads one of his manifestos published on his website.
The organization, the cut”feminist, socialist, independence activist, Basque, environmentalist and internationalist” chooses to adopt an “anti-fascist, transmaritime and decolonial-anti-racist character”.
The primary goal of Ernaï is, as the youth organization itself assures on its page, to reach the “national liberation”because they understand it as a “lever to open the way to other liberations”: “We place the struggles for Basque socialism and for a feminist society in line with the struggle for independence”.
But the truth is that the demolition of the last Osborne bull in Basque territory is not the only “act of vandalism” perpetrated by Ernai. A few days ago, at Durangoprovince of Biscay, a plaque was placed for each of the nine victims of a terrorist act perpetrated by ETA in 1979.
“Street terrorism”
Among them were three civil guards and a National Police agent. The majority association of the Civil Guard, Jucil, denounced that, three days later, the tribute had been vandalized by members of Ernai. The other victims of the attack were a metalworker, a municipal police officer, a lieutenant colonel, a pharmacist, a watchmaker and a People’s Party (PP) councilor.
It didn’t take even 4 days to stain the plaques with which Durango honored the 9 innocent people (one GC and three PN) murdered by the bloodthirsty ETA gang.

“It did not take even 4 days to stain the plaques with which Durango honored the 9 innocent people (one GC and three PN) murdered by the ETA blood group“, we can read in Jucil’s publication.
And the association adds that on the plate it is written “GORA ETA” -long live ETA- and “THE RISE OF KALE BORROKA”. “Jucil condemns these acts and shows its support for the victims of terrorism.”
Sources from the Army Institute underline to EL ESPAÑOL the “rise” of this type of acts, which they no longer describe as “vandalism”, but as “street terrorism”. “It’s much more perceived than before. There is a real radical rebound. They are angry,” these sources add.
Stolen Spanish flags
And again in Durango, the young people of Ernai Several stolen Spanish flags were exposed of different public buildings in the Basque Country. They transferred the banners and a cross on the same day as the 47th anniversary of Magna Carta.
“This week we removed the foreign symbols of the streets of the Basque Country. We took them to Durango and covered them in paint so they couldn’t be put back together. We respond to Constitution Day with the insubordination of young independence supporters,” the tweet read.

The flags of Spain stolen and one of the horns torn off the last Osborne bull in the Basque Country, killed by Ernai.
“In the times we live in, it is up to us to break the 1978 regime and put this country back on track. Foreign symbols have no place in the Basque Country!Independence through action“Young people!” publication continues.
Choose the location of Durango justifying these actions was not trivial. On December 6, several demonstrations took place in favor of the “Basque Nation”, where Ernaï, GKSanother youth organization, and Jarkileft-wing splinter group abertzale.
They also placed a cross located in the Guipuzcoan district of Igeldo “in honor of a Carlist soldier” and “the street sign which bears the name of the Francoist mayor of Gasteiz”.
The (PP) was also not spared from the attacks of the Basque separatists. Members of Ernai they vandalized the headquarters popular and they took down a Spanish flag in Vitoria.

The headquarters of the Basque PP vandalized.
Ernai accused the PP of “wanting to make the Basque people disappear”. Two hooded men approached the headquarters and threw red paint on the facade. In addition, they posted a poster reading “gazteok independenzia” – youth independence -, encouraging people to demonstrate on December 20 in Bilbao.
These altercations come just three days after other attacks against the Minister of Housing, Denis Itxasoat the PES headquarters in San Sebastian.
Parallel to this spiral of urban violence linked to the left abertzale, one of the best-known voices on the Spanish television scene, Inès Hernandmentioned the terrorist group ETA.
“You listen to some left-wing leaders abertzale Basque and they tell you “Sorry, I carried people on my shoulder in the coffin”but it’s something that we don’t know because we only go to the maximum, a minute of information, a minute of I don’t know what,” Hernand said on the show Operation Triumph.
Demolition in Tudela
The removal of the Osborne bull has been in the works for some time. The same people who demolished the effigy in the town of Ribabellosa A few days ago they did the same with the last bull located in Tudela (Navarra) a year ago.
Continuation of the same modus operandi, hooded and ladders in handthey claimed network action by demolishing the structure using saws and hammers. The previous one was withdrawn from service in 2000, located in Alsasua.
Dismantling these structures is not an easy task, given their heavy weight. 4,000 kiloswhich include the supports, with dimensions of 10 meters wide and 14 meters high.
According to publication Navarra Newspaper, During the Tudela bull’s more than 60 years, the frame has been the subject of numerous protest graffitieven transforming into a cow. It should be noted that only two Osborne bulls were bred in Navarre.
Basque independence
