Two years and a few days ago, the famous British musician’s social news was published under a remarkable premise: Rod Stewart (76) met to celebrate with the “four women in his life”. Of course, the photos used accompanied and confirmed what the composer and producer claimed: that he did it an excellent relationship with your exes and your current partner. The image of peaceful coexistence from love after love became, so to speak, a testimony of life for Rod, who managed this reunion for the first time thanks to the birthday of one of his daughters.
But who was in the photo? Was someone missing? Did you have children with all of these couples? Back to front: Yes, all four are mothers to their sons and daughters; Yes, several of his relationships were missing (notably his first love, Susannah Boffey) and here we detail who was in the photo: Alana Stewart, Kelly Emberg, Rachel Hunter and Penny Lancaster, women who crossed Stewart’s life in different decades.
What was the thick love story of the man with the gravelly voice and the unforgettable songs that accompanied this path and that inspired and enabled him to become the soundtrack to the lives of one and another and another from all sides of the planet?
Once again from back to front: the musician born in London in 1945 Member of groups such as The Jeff Beck Group and Faces He maintained his style from the Mod movement of the 1960s. Around these beginnings an event occurred that, fictionalized and over the years, became the theme that brought him to the podium of rock stars. We’re talking about it “Maggie May”, the beautiful song from 1971 that has been covered many times, even by the Argentine group Massacre.
It tells the story of a teenager who has his first sexual relationship with one Femme fatale quite older than him. Rod referred to this event, which occurred during the Beaulieu Jazz Festival and which marked his sexual beginnings and musical events: “I met an older woman who was a kind of sexual predator. One thing led to another and we ended up in a secluded area. I was a virgin.” The song said: “I know I’m entertaining you, but I feel like you’re using me.” Beyond the author’s statements, the texts marked the beginning of a path without proper names (known or anonymous) that established the fame of Casanova (or serial seducer) in Stewart. And the main characters of it are the four in the photo mentioned. Or almost.
Because the notable absentee was the love meeting Sussanah, the girl he met in a bowling alley in London in 1961 when she was studying art. In 1963 they both had their daughter Sarah, who was given up for adoption and later learned the name of her already famous biological father.. But that’s another story.
The truth is that it was on his album in 2013 TimeIn the song “Brighton Beach”, the composer focused on his relationship with Sussanah: “I swear to God, I couldn’t have loved you more. I sit here playing with my children and wonder where you are in this world. Have you ever stopped to think of me?”
Later, other companions would pass through the singer’s life, such as: Model Dee Harrington (Mick Jagger wanted to swap partners with Rod when the Stones singer was dating Nicaraguan Bianca Pérez in 1971) and The Swedish actress and singer Britt EklandIntroduced to Rod in 1975 by a mutual friend, Joan Collins.
Almost in the 80s, Stewart met Alana (former actor George Hamilton), whom he married in 1979 and with whom he had children Kimberly and Sean. In fact, the postcard of good coexistence between the ex-partners of the author of “Hot Legs” happened on Kimberly’s 40th birthday.
Stewart left home a few years after the children’s arrival and with another relationship on the horizon: Kelly Emberg. “Divorce is never easy, but it is even more painful when you find out that your husband is dating a beautiful model who is 15 years younger than you.”Alana said, admitting that “the world was falling apart” at the time. However, over time, he managed to restore the bond with his ex to the point that he, she and the singer’s closest loved ones apparently hugged each other.
During his years as a couple with Emberg, the Scottish football and Celtic fan had his daughter Ruby in 1987. And some time later, history repeated itself. They are now friends, but Rod himself admitted that he did not treat Kelly the way she deserved. He had stumbled upon the same stone that caused him to break up with her and get back together and break up again because of Ruby’s birth.
The singer met in 1991 (new decade, new love?). Rachel Hunter, whom he proposed to three weeks after the obvious crush. The marriage was formalized three months later. This connection resulted in an increase in the number of heirs among the Stewart descendants: Renee and Liam were born some time later. And they lived in apparent harmony with their parents until their separation before the turn of the century. This time it was Rachel who let the disheartened singer down. “I was a rock star. Nobody leaves a rock star!” Rod himself explained, not without a touch of irony (and karma?).
But as always in this story, the passage of days or months leads to the former life partners becoming friends again and accompanying each other from then on.
Legend has it that the British woman lay on a couch for months after Rachel left. And one detail he mentioned in this context contributes to the epic of abandonment: the hot water bottle that made him more or less comfortable (literally and symbolically) despite the cold. The couple had been separated for a long time, but only divorced in 2006.
And so we come to the final section of this story, where he appears Penny Lancaster, who married Rod in 2007 and with whom he had his two youngest children: Alastair and Aiden, aged 15 and 10.
Penny Lancaster, 50-year-old photographer and former model, is moving on with her partner and looking for new adventures. And the plans for her don’t stop there: Penny alternated between photography and television to dedicate herself to patrolling the streets of London as part of the Metropolitan Police. Rod, for his part, is planning a concert in Las Vegas in October. And who knows how many more meetings and photos of family reunions with children and grandchildren they will both see. The firstborn of this last group is Delilah Genoveva Stewart Del Toro, born in 2011 as the result of a passionate affair between Kimberly Stewart and Benicio del Toro. But that is also another story.
