In the middle of the night, the Chamber of Deputies approved the appointment of three members to the Auditor General of the Nation (AGN), sparking controversy with the PRO and other groups allied to the ruling party.
The shortlist, approved with 186 votes in favor (with two abstentions), consists of Rita Mónica Almada for La Libertad Avanza (LLA), Juan Ignacio Forlón for Peronism and the former national deputy of Salta Pamela Calletti for Federal Innovation.
The first two officials appointed took the oath to assume responsibility in the watchdog.
Blocs such as the United Provinces, the PRO and the Left Front denounced that the ruling party had accelerated the vote on the agreement to “return favors”, pointing out that the action was illegal because it was not on the agenda of the extraordinary sessions sent to Congress by President Javier Milei.
In order not to validate the procedure, these political forces rose from their seats and let the spaces that benefited from the agreement vote for themselves alone, revealing the “caste” character with which they had behaved.
Christian Ritondo announced that the PRO would appeal to the court, explaining that the appointment of auditors “does not fall within the purview” of the plenary sessions in extraordinary sessions since it is not included in the executive’s agenda.
For her part, Myriam Bregman (Left Front) accused the ruling party of being “in a hurry to return favors” and said that “that’s why they start handing out petty accusations.” “I’ve never seen anything more egregious than what I just saw. We find it embarrassing,” added the head of the left-wing bloc.
Pablo Juliano of Provincias Unidas said: “There is no problem more out the window than naming three people at 3am.” “It is more chaste than caste. We will withdraw. It is clear that there is no desire to continue with the agenda,” protested the radical from Buenos Aires.
