
A High command of the General Staff of The Russian army died today after Blow up your car in a neighborhood south of Moscow, according to the Russian Instruction Committee (CIR), which attributed the attack to Ukrainian intelligence.
“According to the investigation (…) on Yasenevo Street in Moscow, an explosive device placed under a car. “The head of the Military Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvárov, died as a result of his injuries,” said CIR spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko.
He stated that investigators were evaluating different versions of the murder, including one links the attack to the Ukrainian secret services.
“The main investigation department of the CIR has opened a criminal case for murder and illegal trafficking in explosive substances,” he said.
He pointed out that investigators and criminalists from the CIR headquarters had been dispatched to the crime scene.
“The investigation of the crime scene continues. Investigators will prepare the necessary reports, including forensic medicine and explosives. Witnesses will be interviewed and surveillance cameras will be checked,” he said.
The CIR published a video of the damaged car on Telegram, in which traces of the victim’s blood can be seen. Russian media reported that the car exploded in a parking lot on Moscow’s Yaseneva Street around 7 a.m. with the driver inside.
Since the start of the war, Ukraine has carried out several similar attacks, which have claimed the life of, among others, Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik, deputy chief of the operational command of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
In December 2024, the Ukrainian security service claimed responsibility for this a similar attack against Lieutenant General Igor KirillovChief of the Army’s Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense Forces.
The commander-in-chief was killed by a bomb hidden in an electric scooter outside his home the day after Kiev filed criminal charges against him. His assistant Ilya Polikarpov also died.
