As the imminent parliamentary recess in the National Congress approaches, which will begin next Monday, December 22, Senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE) defended the suspension of the vacation period. The objective would be to continue the INSS CPMI and for the Senate to install the Banco Master CPI, which already has more than 30 signatures.
“We cannot forget the monumental scandal of Banco Master, whose loss could exceed 40 billion reais, and which is protected, for the moment, by the STF, and also here, because I have a CPI request in this Assembly, three weeks ago, which has not yet been numbered, nor read, so that we can seek the truth on this subject, which also involves very powerful people. More secrecy, more protection. More than ever, it is essential to install the CPI at Banco Master, which already has the support of 34 senators of the Republic,” Girão said in plenary.
As shown in Metropolises in Tácio Lorran’s column, the Minister of the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU) Jhonatan de Jesus determined, Thursday evening (12/18), that the Central Bank (BC) would respond, within 72 two hours, to the alleged signs of precipitation in the liquidation of Banco Master, owned by businessman Daniel Vorcaro.
INSS-CPMI
Regarding the INSS, Girão highlighted the testimony of Edson Claro, a trusted employee of Antônio Carlos Camilo Antunes, known as Careca of the INSS, before the Federal Police (PF), which lasted more than 70 hours and resulted in more than a thousand pages of documents. According to the senator, this information reveals links between the people under investigation and raises suspicions about the practice of influence peddling within federal government bodies.
“In his testimony he reported numerous money laundering operations involving the creation of companies abroad. One of them is another lobby that operates strongly here within the National Congress, the World Cannabis Lobby, with the objective of selling marijuana products. This is one of the companies in which there is strong evidence of the possibility that Lulinha (son of President Lula) acts as a hidden partner, to facilitate travel with the Ministry of Health, taking advantage of influence peddling,” he concluded.
