The members of the Regional Coordinator of the Socialist Left PSOE of Castile-La Mancha (IS-PSOE-CLM) formally asked the general secretary of the party in the region, Emiliano García-Page, to “immediate dismissal» of the Minister of Equality, Sara Simón, or, in … his fault, his “voluntary resignation” as a member of the Castilian-Manchego government. At the same time, this internal sector of the PSOE leaves open the possibility of bringing the matter before the Party Guarantees Committee if neither the director nor Page himself “acts in any of the directions indicated”.
The request is included in a press release in which the regional coordinator of the Socialist Left claims to have received “stunned by this improvised and malicious statement” made by the Minister of Equality about the primaries in which socialist activism “without managing any source of internal federal or regional power, returned comrade Pedro Sánchez Pérez Castejón to the General Secretariat of the PSOE”.
According to IS-PSOE-CLM, the words spoken by Sara Simón last Friday in Toledo, following the meeting held in Ferraz by the leaders of the PSOE for Equality to respond to internal complaints of harassment against the former socialist activist and former Moncloa councilor Francisco Salazar, sound like “thug dagger”since, in his opinion, ” declared at this stage of events, they intend to open a false debate on the illegitimacy of an exemplary primary processin which Pedro Sánchez won cleanly and hands down, even in Castilla La Mancha.
In this context, the regional coordinator addresses Emiliano García-Page directly to urge him to clarify the situation. “In any case, the PSOE of Castilla La Mancha, yourself as secretary general of the regional PSOE, should clarify to your advisor if you yourself have given an order to carry out any type of change or alteration of the elections, putting pressure on activists, modifying the census or the ballot papers,” they emphasize in the press release.
The text insists that control of the internal process rested exclusively with the highest party official in the region.. “The truth is that you and you alone controlled the party apparatus to be able to make any changes to the candidate election process. Only you had the levers of power necessary to guarantee clean elections in our territory. Maybe you should talk more about it with your equality advisor,” they add.
From the Socialist Left of Castile-La Mancha, they consider that it is not “suitable” for the councilor, who also occupies the Municipal Policy Secretariat of the regional PSOE, “questioned the internal democracy of the socialist party during these primaries to gain personal points by taking advantage of the current media noise and mixing everything together like a salad that delegitimizes the party. According to him, “this hoax from the fellow advisor has too much meaning and substance to let it pass.”
