PSOE spokesman Montse Mínguez confirmed that the party has already taken action against former minister and ex-secretary of the organization José Luis Albalos, describing recent statements made by his son Victor Albalos as “lies.”
He pointed out in a press conference at the party headquarters on Ferraz Street that Abalos has not been a member of the socialist group in Congress for “22 months,” but rather he is a representative of the mixed group, and the party acted forcefully from the first moment the indicators appeared against him.
Menguez made the remarks when asked about the words of Abalos’ eldest son, who said on Monday that his father’s successor in the organization area, Santos Cerdán, had offered him a “blank check” on behalf of President Pedro Sánchez.
In this way, the Socialists’ spokesman insisted that they would not allow themselves to “blackmail anyone” while at the same time disparaging the credibility of the above statements. He noted, “We will not waste another minute denying the lies.”
In the same vein, he reiterated that this was the “moment of justice” and defended that the PSOE had acted from the first minute, showing “zero tolerance” for corruption and cooperating with the investigation.
