Transfers of interest and dividends outside Brazil intensified this Monday and led to a sharp rise in the dollar against the real, to almost R$5.60, even if abroad the North American currency fell against most other currencies.
The spot dollar closed the day with an increase of 0.97%, to R$5.5844. During the year, however, the currency accumulated a decline of 9.62%.
At 5:03 p.m., the dollar futures contract for January – currently Brazil’s most liquid – rose 0.67% on the B3, to R$5.5940.
