If we had to make a list of the cities that make the most of the month of December, New York would undoubtedly be at the top. Celebrations that accompany putting up Christmas trees, welcoming the snow and preparing for the end of the year include “nostalgic rides” on the city’s subway. The Transit Museum and the Transit Authority agree to offer tours of restored old buildings. Eight wagons from the 1930s, which were in use until the late 1970s, are approached by various tourists and visitors – including some people dressed for the occasion, as this photo shows – and are enchanted by a unique journey through time with the smell of wood, lights of bygone times and the creaking of old wagons with their own history.
