With great participation, local producers organized the first Strawberry Festival with free entry yesterday at the Playón of the Meridiano V provincial station at 5 p.m. and 71 p.m.
The activity, carried out in collaboration with the municipality, aimed to disseminate and enhance the flower and fruit production of the La Plata region, strengthen the connection between producers and the community and promote short marketing routes.
According to the current Platense Florihorticola survey, the strawberry is a strategic crop, with 3,600 tons per year, occupying the sixth place in the Florifruti horticultural chain, showing strong growth compared to the 68 tons recorded in the 2005 Buenos Aires Horticultural Census.
The offer enabled visitors to purchase strawberries, seasonal vegetables and processed regional products. There were also stands with information material on research, nutrition, agricultural practices, production experiences and technical recommendations; cooking workshops with special guests; open radio; Live music and activities for the whole family.
Primary producers, value-added companies, academic institutions and provincial organizations were involved.
