The University Council of the State University of Rio, Uerj, yesterday unanimously approved the awarding of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to the singer Alcione. It is the first Brazilian university to grant an honorary title of this type to the artist, making this honor something unprecedented and symbolic, especially since it represents a historical correction in the recognition of black women in the field of academic honors.
