Although the “transformation” of the centers for minors in Castilla y León de la Junta (or in agreement with the regional administration) began in 2022 in several of them, José Montero, in Valladolid, is perhaps the first to inaugurate “such a complete work”, … as clarified this Thursday by the family advisor, Isabel Blanco. The vice-president of the Council thus came to visit the reform, which has 34 places for supervised children and adolescents, who will live in three cohabitation units with double bedrooms and common areas, including kitchens and living rooms. “We want the centers to be as close to home as possible”Blanco explained.
The renovated building will accommodate 38 workers and it is hoped that the miners will be able to settle in this new wing “before Christmas”, indicated its director, Francisca Guerrero. Although in this case the majority is at least ten years old, the places are prepared for children and adolescents between eight and eighteen years old who are under guardianship but without a foster family (46% of the inhabitants of the Community live in centers, according to data provided by Blanco).
During the visit, it was clarified that this work involved a public investment of 1.7 million euros and that they are part of the 15.8 million euros of European funds allocated to actions in favor of children. Actually, Up to twelve million of them are distributed in interventions in similar centerssuch as the Arturo Duperier of Ávila, the Gregorio Santiago (Burgos), the Leonese Suero of Quiñones, Los Molinos (Salamanca) or the centers of Valladolid Zambrana and La Alameda.
