The eve of the Immaculate Conception was the time in which more than 2,000 people witnessed the exciting moment when the Bishop of Córdoba, Jesús Fernández, imposed the crowns, work of the Sevillian Ramón León, on the Virgo of the Moon and the Child Jesus.
The gold and silver donated by its faithful allow this beautiful offering of love towards its Mother to shine on the temples of the Virgin of the Moon, Patroness and perpetual Mayor of the two municipalities. Dressed in a white skirt and a new blue coat which incorporates the embroidered shields of the two peoples who promoted this fruitful path, already shines as Queen.
The two corporations which have ensured the traditional devotion to the image for centuries in the two localities united in October 2023 to request the canonical coronation of the Virgin of the Moon and since then they have not stopped working and carefully preparing this celebration. “United in one heart» introduced themselves at the start of the mass.
It was in the Shrine of Jarain the heart of the Jara pasture, which currently belongs to the municipality of Pozoblanco. It was there, halfway between Villanueva de Córdoba and Pozoblanco, that the Virgin was crowned. A large tent welcomed 2,000 peopleand abroad, more and more enthusiasts followed these moments in history through the screens.
Luna is a devotion born in the Late Middle Ages. Tenacity, dedication and unity have paid off in 2025, after a few previous attempts, and charities are part of this journey which results in donations to Caritas, a religious congregation and the Picota Mission in Peru.
The procession carrying the wreaths with the songs of the polyphonic choirs of Peña Marcos Redondo and San Miguel, from both municipalities, created the perfect atmosphere to open the 12:30 p.m. mass. The coronation anthem bears the music of a resident of Villanueva, Miguel Torralbo Reyes, and the letter by Juan Bautista Escribano Cabrera de Pozoalbo.

The zircons of the crown, the work of Ramón León, highlight the craters of the moons to enhance their celestial character.
The new crown is enriched with five amethysts selected for their purity, a five-millimeter zircon located at the heart of the cross, and a set of one hundred two-millimeter zircons which highlight the craters of the moons, providing a luminous and celestial effect.
To this are added twenty six pearls natural stones placed at the tips of the rays, evoking the light that radiates the presence of the Mother of God. The crown of the Child Jesus, delicate and harmonious, was made with 710 grams of silver, maintaining aesthetic and symbolic coherence with the crown of the Virgin.
Both medals have been finished with a 24 carat gold plating which brings warmth and nobility, accompanied by a rhodium plating applied to the central moon from the crown of the Virgin to the angels that surround her, faithfully representing the devotion and dedication of the inhabitants of Pozoblanco and Villanueva de Córdoba, and to the monogram JHS which presides over the orb of the crown of the Child.
The coronation takes place in the Jubilee Year of Hope and on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the great mission of the two peoples in their love for the Virgin of the Moon.

The Queen of Jara After the coronation mass, she took part in a triumphal procession around the hermitage of Jara in which all the faithful accompanied her.
The two brotherhoods of Luna were present at all times with Juan José Cartánpresident of the brotherhood of the Virgin of the Moon of Villanueva de Córdoba, and Juan Garciarespectively captain of the Virgen de Luna de Pozoblanco.
