Felipe was injured by gunfire in Churrasquinho Tá na Área, where red and black fans were celebrating Flamengo’s victory in the Libertadores, against Palmeiras. The celebration, which was dominated by an atmosphere of joy, turned into a state of chaos when gunshots interrupted the celebration.
Civil police arrested Benedetto de Souza, the cousin of Felipe’s partner, and Cristiano da Conceição, the woman’s brother. Benedetto admitted to shooting nine times, claiming revenge for the victim’s alleged assaults against his cousin and aunt.
The complaint filed by Felipe’s companion indicates that the initial tragedy could lead to a new wave of family conflicts, now characterized by fear, stress and mistrust. The PCDF is investigating not only the murder, but also whether there were other people involved in the crime, or now, in possible retaliation.
