30The woman who ran over and killed her boyfriend and his friend, in the early hours of last Sunday (28/12), in the southern zone of São Paulo, tried to flee the scene of the crime and had to be taken – in haste – to the police station to avoid being lynched by members of the public. The information is contained in the police report registered on the case, which was obtained by the Metropolises.
Geovanna Proque da Silva, 21, was driving a Citroën vehicle at high speed and collided with the motorcycle driven by her boyfriend, Raphael Canuto Costa, also 21. On the back was her friend, 19-year-old Joyce Correa da Silva.

Due to the impact, the motorcycle flew 30 meters. Raphaël and Joyce died instantly. Two parked vehicles were involved in the collision and one man was injured.
After causing the accident, Geovanna fled the scene, but felt dizzy and lay down on a sidewalk near the scene of the crime, committed on Rua Professor Leitão da Cunha, in the Parque Regina neighborhood. She was approached and arrested in the act by military police.
The officers “immediately removed Geovanna from the scene because members of the public wanted to lynch her,” the police report states.
Acted out of jealousy
According to testimonies and police analysis, Geovanna acted out of jealousy when she accelerated the car and aimed at the motorcycle on which her boyfriend and his friend were riding.
A few moments before, Raphaël was having a barbecue at his home. The girlfriend was reportedly bothered by the presence of women at the gathering, as demonstrated by messages sent via WhatsApp moments before the crime.
Angered, she went with her mother-in-law, who has not yet been identified by the police, to Raphaël’s house. He would not have let the young woman in and went out to ride his bike. Geovanna immediately got into the car and followed her boyfriend.
In a nearby cellar, Raphaël saw Joyce, identified by witnesses as one of his childhood friends. She got on the back of the motorcycle and the two continued their journey, until they were brutally hit by Geovanna.

Arrested preventively
When arrested, Geovanna showed signs of drowsiness, but she was aware of what had happened and spoke clearly, police reported. The young woman also admitted that she had taken antidepressants and had previously attempted suicide.
She was taken to the Ambulatory Medical Assistance (AMA) in Pirajussara, also in the southern zone, and remained at the disposal of the Court.
Geovanna underwent a custody hearing and had her arrest converted to preventive detention. She must answer for double-qualified homicide for frivolous reasons and using a resource which made it difficult for the victim to defend herself.
According to the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), the case is under investigation by the 37th Police District (Campo Limpo), which seeks to identify and locate possible parties and witnesses, as well as new images that could help clarify the facts.
THE Metropolises contacted the young woman’s defense, but without response until the publication of this report. The space remains open.
Joyce was veiled on Sunday (12/28) and Raphaël this Monday (12/29).
