This project was rewarded on the basis of best value for money, one of the main evaluation criteria of the approach. The call for tenders, closed on October 14, received a total of seven offersincluding six from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The formalization of the contract is planned before January 15, 2026.
This action aims to renew the section of the supply network between Le Panchez and the 1,000 m³ buffer tank near Low eyes. The project is crucial to ensuring a more efficient and reliable water supply for villages in the northern Fuente Obejuna zone.

The supply of villages in the municipality of Fuente Obejuna, in the northern zone, is currently carried out through a branched conduction made up of sections of different materials. This network supplies the area’s reservoirs from the Belmez Drinking Water Treatment Plant (ETAP).
Originally, driving was completely asbestos cementwith diameters between 175 and 80 mm. Over time, some sections have been replaced by 200 mm and 250 mm ductile iron conduits, but there remains a fiber cement section between the La Posadilla detour and the Ojuelos Bajos regulatory reservoir, with diameters between 175 mm and 100 mm.
The age of infrastructure has generated constant breakdownswhich affects water service and generates high repair costs. Breakages, due to obsolete materials, are generally of considerable magnitude, which further aggravates the situation. The renewal of this network is therefore a urgent need to improve service quality and reduce long-term operating costs.
