The attack occurred at a home on 2nd and 80th. Cristian Gonzalo Prado, 23, was struck in the head by a bullet and died after being hospitalized in critical condition. The victim had a long criminal record.
Another episode of extreme violence rocked La Plata again and this time it was fatal. Cristian Gonzalo Prado, 23, died after being shot in the head during a confusing confrontation in Villa Elvira, an event that overwhelmed the neighborhood with fear, shock and fear of new reprisals. The death was confirmed by police sources to EL DIA after 9 p.m. last night.
The attack occurred in the early hours of this Friday in the area of 2 and 80 when, according to the police report, a fight broke out between two groups of people at an informal meeting in a house. The situation quickly escalated and ended in the worst case scenario: with shots fired and a young life not surviving after hours of torment.
According to official information, the San Martín Hospital had informed the police of the admission of a gunshot wound and a very serious head injury. Upon arrival at the hospital, officers determined that the victim had a wound to the front of his skull and was hospitalized in critical condition with a guarded prognosis.
Prado had been attacked by a friend, Milton, who stated that both were at a “meeting” at a house in Villa Elvira when a fight broke out between two groups present there. In the midst of this unrest, some of those involved began exploding firearms.
Faced with this scenario, Prado and his friend tried to leave and made their way to the young man’s vehicle. However, as they were about to drive up, a white car drove past the place and shots were fired again from inside. One of these projectiles hit Prado’s head.
In desperation, Milton carried the injured young man and immediately took him to the San Martín Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical staff and hours of extreme tension, Prado died after 9 p.m. as a result of the severity of the injury sustained.
The attacker, identified
The event caused great excitement. Neighbors reported moments of panic due to the explosions and expressed concern about the level of violence in the sector. Many expressed fear of possible retaliation between the gangs involved and warned that the shootings endanger families who have nothing to do with these conflicts.
At the same time, the investigation progressed quickly. Sources confirmed that the alleged perpetrator of the shooting has already been identified and that there would be a long-standing conflict between him and the victim.
With the death of Prado, the case will change its classification, which until now was “Serious injuries caused by the use of a firearm” and remains in the hands of the UFI No. 15 of La Plata, which ordered a series of urgent procedures to advance the arrest of the suspect. Prado’s murder became the 20th crime in the region so far in 2025.
