Presenter Márcio Garcia announced on Tuesday the death of Bogo, one of his four dogs, suffering from advanced lymphoma. The loss came a few days after he moved his supporters by speaking out, also on social networks, about the delicate condition of the animal. He spoke last Wednesday of the family’s dilemma in the face of the progression of the disease.
In the previously published video, Márcio, 55, appeared in tears as he explained that Bogo was no longer able to eat naturally and that the family had to choose between starting chemotherapy treatment to prolong the dog’s life – even with great wear and tear – or allowing him to leave without prolonging his suffering. “We are facing one of those difficult dilemmas of life,” he said through tears.
On the occasion, the presenter asked his friends, colleagues and fans for advice, highlighting the anguish of having to make a decision given the seriousness of the situation. “It’s too difficult to make a decision when it comes to your life… That’s why I really wanted to know what you would do if you were in my place…” he said. Bogo, a Dogo Argentino breed, had been diagnosed with malignant lymphoma and, according to Márcio, his “days were numbered”.
This Wednesday, announcing the death of the animal, Márcio wrote that he was trying to understand this sudden departure, but that certain mysteries “belong only to God”. He said he felt guilty for not admitting the dog the night before, when he realized its condition had worsened. “Sometimes illness affects some beings and spares others, and it is in this place of uncertainty and incomprehension that faith and resilience become a refuge,” he said.
The presenter thanked the support received in recent days. “It was a huge comfort to our family,” he said, emphasizing the special bond between Bogo and his son João. “Bogo was a great friend and companion, and this is how he will continue to live in our memory.”
