The participant who completes the most jumps will receive the basket with the most ingredients and so on.”
Between distrust and hope, each participant took turns holding the rope to determine how they would distribute the baskets. At the end of the round and after everyone had tried their luck, the order of most jumps was determined as follows: Emilia took first place, followed by Chino. They were followed by Ian, then Evangelina, Cachete, Susana, La Reini and finally Julia. And finally, Betular announced: “You will have 60 minutes to prepare anything you want, you have to prepare successful dishes,” while Donato exclaimed: “You have to blow us away!”
Without wasting a moment, the participants began their respective preparations, trying to come up with original proposals that could lead them to victory on a day where every kitchen was a fighting ring. And while nervousness took over the evening, the judges decided a few minutes before the end to increase the level of difficulty so that everyone had to continue cooking with their boxing gloves on.
The first to be called to the front was Cachete, who brought with him a sautéed pork with vegetables and prunes, about which Donato said: “The idea must be rewarded, although not so resolved. I liked the idea better than the dish.” For his part, Betular said: “The presentation is a new cachete… there is a search.” Then it was the turn of Chino Leunis, who enjoyed a paella, to which Betular noted: “It’s daring to make a paella, I would have used less rice. The taste is very good, it tastes of the sea, but for me it needs to be cooked a little.”“.
La Reini prepared a lentil stew with grilled sausage, and Martitegui said: “It’s spectacular. It has a very good taste, the lentils are very well cooked, it’s very well presented.” In the same vein, Donato emphasized: “There is a lot of harmony in this dish, it is eaten with pleasure“.
Ian made some sweetbreads with chive sauce and Donato explained: “The taste is good, but it needed more cooking to render the fat better. But applause for the presentation!” Less fortunate was Julia, who prepared eggplant with rice and chicken, which the specialists said was a dish that was “difficult to put together” and “visually confusing”.
Later, Emilia chose a creamy polenta with butter, which was praised by the judges, while Susana Roccasalvo presented a meat pie with pumpkin sauce. Regarding this dish, Betular emphasized: “I would have put the puree sauce separately so that it wouldn’t take away the meaning of the meat sandwich“In response to that comment, Martitegui seemed surprised and replied, “Well, now he likes satellites.” As Roccasalvo rubbed his hands over the jury’s friction, Betular insisted: “I think there are dishes that deserve it. “This one deserves it”. Wanda, very perceptive, suggested putting on “a ring with gloves,” but Betular stopped her: “We will never fight.”.
Finally, Evangelina brought what she called “some kind of ramen,” but Betular asked that she didn’t see the broth on the plate and then told her that her preparation was “one step away from some noodles with tuco.”
When it came to deciding the weakest dishes of the evening, Cachete, el Chino, Julia Calvo and Susana Roccasalvo were chosen.
