We are in the middle of a countdown to one of the most anticipated days of the year: Extraordinary Christmas draw. This December 22, the children of San Idelfonso will start singing the numbers while all the participants of the Teatro Real and the people who … They follow the draw from home, impatiently waiting to find out “four million euros”.
This year, 2.772 million euros will be distributed in prizes. The queues to find the perfect ending continue to form at the gates of administrations, especially in the most famous ones like Doña Manolita, who are already rushing the home stretch of the campaign.

First prize, “El Gordo” : 4,000,000 euros for the series and 400,000 euros for the tenth

Second prize : 1,225,000 euros for the series and 125,000 for the tenth

Fourth prizes (2): 200,000 euros for the series and 20,000 for the tenth

There are also almost 1,800 prizes of 1,000 euros, approaches, “stones” or reimbursements. However, those that appear in the list above are the “big” rewards of the Christmas Lottery and those who are subject to certain considerations regarding taxation and what the Treasury takes.
According to current legislation, Christmas Lottery winnings are not subject to deduction if their amount is less than 40,000 euros. For those who exceed this amount, the withholding will amount to 20% of each price.
What the Treasury takes with prices
In this way you must keep in mind that if it is your turn “El Gordo”or 400,000 euros if you have a tenth, for the first 40,000 you will not pay taxes. A 20% withholding will be applied to the remaining 360,000, the Treasury will therefore keep 72,000 euros of the final price and 328,000 will go directly to your account.
The same thing happens with the second prize. They cost 125,000 euros if you get a tenth of them. Among them, 40,000 are exempt. Of the remaining 85,000, 20% is applied, so the Treasury takes 17,000 and 108,000 will be yours.
Finally, in the third prize i.e. 50,000 euros, the Treasury will apply a withholding of 20% on the 10,000 euros which exceed the ceiling. The tax authorities will keep 2,000 and yours the remaining 48,000.
Regarding the rest of pricessince the amount is less than 40,000 euros, all the money goes to the account of the lucky person who bought this number.

Concerning the dynamics of the draw, it will be carried out through the traditional system. Two drums will be used, one for the prizes and the other for the numbers. There are two types of balls, those with numbers, which are 100,000, and 1,807 corresponding to the prizes.
