When we adopt or buy a dog and add it to our family, we must consider various factors. One of the most important is having children at home. If this is the case, it is essential that we choose for a compatible race.
Casey Ray is a dog trainer and youtuber who, in one of his videos, explains which are the five breeds he fully trusts when he is with his grandchildren, based on their “nearly 30 years of experience.”
“Basically, I found the five races that, you know, working with them year after year, they’re the easiest,” Casey Ray says in the video shared on his YouTube channel.
5. Havanese
The Havanese, Cuba’s national dog, is the fifth best dog for sharing a home with children, according to Ray. The coach calls them “fantastic”. The expert says they require “minimal training” and are “a fantastic dog for the whole family.”
4. Bernese Mountain Dog
Despite their large size, Casey Ray says they look a lot like a “teddy bear”. They are known for their loving and loyal nature, as well as their intelligence. He explained that “this dog thrives well in the family” and what’s more, it requires minimal training. Just keep in mind that these are large dogs, so it’s best to supervise them when around children.
3. Labrador retriever
The ultimate family dog, the Labrador retriever, is loved thanks to its loyalty, intelligence, kindness and outgoing personality. Casey Ray says: “Labradors are fantastic family dogs.” “You can be active with them. They can curl up next to you on the couch. You can take them hunting. You can do whatever you want with them. You can go on hikes. The Labrador Retriever, you guys, is a fantastic family dog,” the trainer continues.
2. Poodle
Second, Ray places “poodles, all varieties. A fantastic dog. I mean, enormous intelligence!”. “You can do high-level obedience with them or they can just lie down with you and be your best companion. You don’t see a lot of reactive or aggressive poodles,” he adds.
1. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
First place goes to the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a small dog known for its gentle, gentle nature and strong desire to please its owners. “You can put them with babiesyou can put them with little kids, you can put them with a big family, all kinds of kids, and they’ll be fine,” Casey Ray says. “They’ll be in the kids’ rooms and play with them. This is what we look for in a family dog,” he concludes.
