In the period included between December 26 and Thursday 1 A series of vehicle movements over short and long distances will be generated, particularly during weekends and public holidays, to second homes, areas of large shopping centers, places where winter sports are practiced or points of winter tourist attraction.
Expected traffic in Andalusia
The DGT recommends avoiding rush hours, which should take place between 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on December 26 and 28, and between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday the 27th.
To cover the large number of trips and guarantee safety on Andalusian roads, security agents the Civil Guard Traffic Groupofficial staff of Traffic Management Centers, helicopter patrols and personnel responsible for maintaining equipment and installing road measures will work 24 hours a day to facilitate mobility and traffic flow, as well as to ensure road safety for all road users.
In Andalusiafrom the Traffic Management Centers based in Malaga and Seville, the service will be provided before, during and after the Special Operation phase, thanks to the work of more than 60 officials and specialized technical staff who carry out supervision, regulation and information tasks.
Your work will have the support of two air resources staffs (helicopters and drones) which cover the main roads of Andalusia and will focus on points where incidents may occur. In flight, the Traffic Management Centers and the Traffic Group will be informed of the state of traffic, whose agents will carry out the usual services of help, assistance and traffic monitoring on the intercity network of Andalusian roads, paying particular attention to those who are expected to support a greater number of trips, such as access to tourist rest areas and second homes.
The Special Christmas Operation 2025-2026 consists of three phases which encompass each of the busiest dates of this holiday period: Christmas, New Year and the Three Kings. Once the first phase has been overcome, which took place from Friday December 19 to 25, the second phase now begins, which will be followed by a third and final phase, coinciding with the Three Kings, which will last from Friday January 2 to Tuesday January 6.
