Madrid, December 12 (EFE). – In its preliminary conclusions, the public prosecutor’s office is demanding four years in prison for a pastor of the Evangelical Baptist Church of the Sierra Oeste in Madrid, who is accused of having deprived the religious institution of more than half a million euros in donations from believers.
The Madrid provincial court has scheduled the trial for Tuesday in which TGM will be charged with a crime of embezzlement. The prosecutor also demands that he be sentenced to a fine of 3,000 euros and to compensate the aforementioned church 516,271 euros for the amounts that he deducted from the religious institution’s account and that were not recovered.
In its indictment, the public prosecutor’s office reports that the defendant, as pastor of this church, used his authority over the church’s checking account to confiscate various amounts of money through 17 refunds and transfers to his designated account between 2016 and 2017.
He adds that the embezzlement related to these refunds and transfers amounted to 516,271 euros from donations from the faithful.
The prosecution explains that the defendant never had a payroll, he bought a car in his name and gave part of these amounts to his son to buy a house in Boadilla del Monte (Madrid).
Until 2020, the members of the church did not know where the defendant put the donations they received. EFE
