With an investment in cell phones and a reassignment of staff, the city announced it would begin strengthening security in areas with high nighttime activity.
Specifically, the city purchased one hundred and twenty cell phones, motorcycles and ATVs and will deploy them, along with more personnel, for night patrols in areas and neighborhoods that are home to many bars, bowling alleys and dining corridors.
The operation will cover the entire city, but we will focus on areas with high night activity, where we will increase patrols by 50%,” said Prime Minister Jorge Macri. And he added: “The night of Buenos Aires, which characterizes us, deserves to be experienced in freedom and tranquility.” That’s why we want a lot of police on the streets.”
Authoritarians don’t like that
The practice of professional and critical journalism is a mainstay of democracy. That is why it bothers those who believe that they are the owners of the truth.
During Macri’s two years in office, 3,839 officers took to the streets, and now the city’s police force has more than 27,000 officers.
And this year, 120 patrol cars, 126 vans, 160 motorcycles, 60 four-wheelers, 6 prisoner transfer units, 11 minibuses for personnel transport and 200 bicycles for police stations were added.
