Shortly after winning the Libertadores, Flamengo didn’t forgive anyone on social media. One of the targets of the provocations was midfielder Andreas Pereira, who played for the Rio team in 2021 and was marred by a slip in the final of that year’s competition against Palmeiras themselves.
Almost three weeks after this year’s Libertadores title, Andreas Pereira spoke for the first time about the provocations received on the Internet. In an interview with Estadão, the Palmeiras player said he had no regrets about Flamengo, but he was keen to take a dig at the red and black team.
— I have respect for all the clubs I have played for. I have never been one to disrespect anyone during my career, or any club. If they (Flamengo) think it’s more important, they think it’s more important to talk about me when they win a title, it shows the greatness of the club (Palmeiras). They are more worried about me than celebrating the Libertadores — said Andreas Pereira.
After the final whistle, Flamengo posted a montage of Andreas as a deliveryman – alluding to the 2021 final, when the midfielder missed Deyverson’s goal that gave Palmeiras the title – with the Libertadores Cup in his bag.
— Understand one thing: no one, I repeat, no one dies because of us — the Rio club wrote in the publication.

Andreas Pereira was hired by Palmeiras in August this year and signed a contract until December 2028. The negotiations cost Palmeiras 10 million euros (around 63 million reais at the time), and Fulham of England will receive the amount in installments over four years.
