The headquarters of the PP, in the town of Finestrat, in Alicante, suffered an attack with red paint poured on its facade and graffiti recorded last night, as reported in a press release from the Popular Party of the Valencian Community (PPCV). In the graffiti, … in black and red, you can read it in Valencian ‘Easy to lock looks after Arran La Marina’.
Finestrat is the municipality of which the new president of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, was mayor until he took office as head of the Consell. The head of the regional executive condemned “this violent act” and “this intimidation” with a message on his social networks in which he indicates that in democracy “there is no place for any form of violence” and emphasizes that “This vandalism has no justification”.
“In our democracy, there is no place for any form of violence. This vandalism has no justification. “I condemn this violent act and the intimidation and I send my support to the colleagues of the PP of Finestrat,” indicates the message from the also representative of the PPCV. Likewise, Pérez Llorca declared that his government “will always be on the side of coexistence and respect.”
Subsequently, during the visit that Juanfran Pérez Llorca made this Wednesday to the Asilo Santa Marta Hospital Residence in Vila Joiosa (Alicante), he once again condemned the attack on the PP headquarters in Finestrat.
In statements to the media, the head of the Consell reiterated that “in a democracy, there is no place for violence and even less on these dates – Christmas – and in a municipality like Finestrat where most of the things approved in the municipal council are generally unanimous.
“It is a city in which the PP is in the majority and on the other hand, many agreements are concluded with the opposition parties.” “Someone wants to break the coexistence that exists in this municipality and this must be an example for many,” Pérez Llorca emphasized.
The president stressed that he condemns “very seriously” attitudes such as those demonstrated in front of the popular headquarters of Finestrat, while declaring that these are “vandalist attitudes that have no place in democracy” and invited “all parties that believe in democracy to condemn these events.”
“Signs of identity”
In the same press release in which the PPCV reported this attack against the ‘popular’ headquarters of Finestrat, the secretary general of this formation, Carlos Gil, condemned this fact.
“These are acts of vandalism which respond to the hatred that the Catalan independence movement has towards everything that is Valencian and our defense of our characteristics,” Gil said.
“Intolerable attacks in full democracy that we have unfortunately suffered in several of our seats over the last year,” he added, while affirming that the PPCV will not “contribute to polarization or hatred, which are the only thing these radicals seek”.
Carlos Gil indicated “in a situation like this”, the popular people “not only” expect “the condemnation of all political formations of the Community”, but that this leads to “a deep reflection on the path we want to follow to put an end to the tension in society”.
For its part, the PP of Finestrat showed, in a message, its “absolute condemnation of the act of vandalism from which its headquarters suffered.” “Precisely today, on Christmas Eve, we put above these attacks everything that unites us and makes us stronger as a people: respect, freedom, coexistence. The values of our democracy,” adds this training.
