While the reactions to the “Salazar case” and the investigation into the socialist leader of Torremolinos continue to occur, another front has just opened for the PSOE in Galicia. As confirmed by Cuatro’s “Code 10” show, several women linked to the party claim … to have suffered sexual harassment by the president of the Lugo Provincial Council and mayor of Monforte de Lemos, the socialist José Tomé, also a member of the Federal Committee of the PSOE.
and the story would also repeat itself in terms of dealing with what happened by the training management, since the six alleged victims – including workers, councilors and councilors – ensure that They forwarded their complaints to three regional leaders of the PSOE without them doing anything. Now they are also turning to the party’s contested internal channel.
The testimonies highlighted by “Code 10” are convincing. “He has been sexually harassing several women in the party across the province for some time. It doesn’t matter whether you are an activist, supporter, municipal councilor, worker, mayor, journalist or elected official. “None of them are saved,” says one of them.
The most serious thing according to this story is that “we think that this goes unpunished and this is normal because many women who have suffered it “We have forwarded the complaints to other organic positions and no one is doing anything.” They would have even gone so far as to justify it: “They say it doesn’t matter, he is like that, and They make you think it was you who exaggerated or did something to provoke him.”
The same complainant describes Tomé’s supposedly “disgusting” attitudes, with “totally inappropriate comments” and even “unauthorized touching”. “It’s not worth it if you say no, or if you try to run away. “He will continue to insist until you fall,” he warns.
What happened with the complaints against Paco Salazar does not leave much hope for this woman, who finds it difficult to act against Tomé. “It hurts to see how a party that trusted and proclaimed itself the party of women “He completely ignores us and protects attackers like this,” he says.
Other testimonies indicate “endless obscene and dirty messages, photos and atrocities” and the offer of jobs in exchange for sexual relations: “He informs me that he is going to eliminate certain temporary positions, he tells me that If I want to have any possibility of accessing him (…), I had to sleep with him.”
The party’s response
According to information broadcast by the Cuatro program, the alleged victims transmitted their complaints to the two main leaders of the Galician PSOE: the secretary general himself, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, Sánchez’s man in Galicia, and his number 2, Lara Méndez, secretary of party organization.
It turns out that both are from Lugo, as is the third leader to whom the women who claim to have been harassed have spoken. It is about Pilar García, number 2 of Tomé as secretary of the party organization at the provincial level and mayor of Antas de Ulla.
Asked by a ‘Code 10’ team about this, Besteiro assures that he is not aware of any complaints.
