
A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck much of Colombia in the early hours of Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
The feeling of the quake, which varied from city to city, was not mild, and thousands of Colombians described the earthquake as “strong.”
The movement caused concern among the population, but also triggered a quick reaction on social networks, where memes and humorous phrases abounded after the event.

According to the Colombian Geological Survey (SGC), the earthquake was registered at 03:27 local time (08:27 GMT) and had as its epicenter the municipality of Mesa de los Santos in the department of Santander, an area crossed by one of the country’s most important geological faults.
