A fight at a party involving several people with criminal records led to an ambush that claimed the life of a 23-year-old young man. The victim, 23 years old and identified as Cristian Gonzalo Prado, was shot in the head as he tried to leave the house in the town of Villa Elisa, La Plata, where the first altercation took place.
This fatal attack occurred in the early hours of Friday on 2nd and 80th when occupants of a vehicle shot at Prado, who had a criminal record that included illegally carrying weapons. It is not known whether he had a weapon at the time, as the wounded man was taken to a nearby hospital by one of his friends, so police could not reconstruct whether the victim was armed. Prado finally died yesterday.
This person close to the victim, identified according to police sources as Milton Muñiz, reported that uniformed officers questioned him at the San Martín Hospital and that he was at a “meeting” with his friend when, for reasons he could not explain, a confrontation broke out between two antagonistic groups.
From this person’s statement, it became clear to investigators that the fight inside the house resulted in an exchange of gunfire in which no other people were hit, as no other patient in the area was initially treated for projectile injuries. The victim’s friend’s story ended with the statement that when Prado managed to leave the house, he was hit by shots from a moving vehicle.
Prado was taken to hospital in his friend’s car with a serious head injury. He died a few hours later.
The investigation was conducted by UFI 15 under the direction of prosecutor Cecilia Corfield. Sources in the case said the alleged perpetrator of the shooting has already been identified and that he would have a long-standing conflict with the victim. According to Noticias Argentinas, this suspect is said to have a criminal record for robbery and illegal carrying of firearms.
Employees of the DDI La Plata of the Buenos Aires Police Department are trying to find out the whereabouts of the alleged perpetrator of the fatal shooting, while investigators are trying to clarify the circumstances of Prado’s murder, in particular due to the aforementioned brawl in which shots were fired before the gunman from the moving car could intervene.
Although the victim’s relatives assured that he was not a thief but worked as a driver for a travel application, investigative sources revealed that Prado recorded several referrals to police stations in La Plata, with several cases of illegal carrying of weapons this year and a file of serious injuries opened.
