They promised her a better life, but kept her as a slave for 22 years and watched her with 16 cameras from the USA.

The house on Montevideo Street stood still. No one expected that a raid would break into the tranquility of the Martin district, in a residential area of the city rosary. Not even the victim knew his life would change.
The story began 22 years ago, when a 14-year-old teenager arrived from Corrientes. In 2003, she was captured in the city of Tres Bocas in a situation of extreme vulnerability. He could neither read nor write and lived in an environment of deep poverty.
When her father died, the mother remained responsible for nine children and believed in the promise of the person who betrayed her. They brought their eldest daughter to Rosario, where they offered her a better life and sent her to school until she became a teacher or lawyer.
None of this happened, and instead always after the accusation of justice, was exploited for two decades To carry out household and care tasks without pay, francs, vacation or social life.
His world was limited to what happened in the house on Montevideo Street. The only activity he did (other than cleaning, cooking, washing and shopping, whatever they asked him to do) was Watch Pokémon or Netflix when everyone was sleeping.
For many years – they warn – the woman neither had a key to the house nor, at the time of the raid, had a room where she could rest or take off the clothes they had given her.
“Their things were in plastic boxes,” they confessed. I shared the room the woman he cared for, who is 88 years old and is believed to have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
When she was still a child, to complete the transfer, the victim’s mother was called to a notary’s office to sign a notarial deed. However, she couldn’t read or write and didn’t receive advice from anyone she trusted. So he signed without knowing what he was doing. The person who made the arrangement was identified by the initials DMG and was J’s cousin, the woman who would receive her at her home and who went to Corrientes to look for her.
So the teenager came to Rosario with her “Patrona” by bus, directly to the house on Montevideo Street.
More than 30 witnesses testified in court and identified the alleged victim as an employee. Nobody thought she was a family member or a friend. She performed tasks consistent with a private home worker and cared for her “patron” every day, with no leave, holidays, or known rest periods.
Everything changed about two months ago when the now 37-year-old woman went to the hospital. The doctors who treated her recognized her vulnerability and contacted the ombudsman. They tried to help her, include her in a literacy plan or get some kind of support to improve her situation.
What he said in the interview set off all alarms: they immediately alerted the human trafficking office in Rosario, which is responsible for investigating and litigating complex cases Javier Arzubi Calvo.
The Federal Police, together with the Victim Assistance Program and the Human Rights Secretariat, took part in the raid during which she was rescued.
He is now in state custody and proceedings have been opened for “Crime of trafficking in human beings for the purpose of placement in servitude“, according to the website Fiscales.gob.ar.
According to the information released by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office of Rosario, the indictment was formulated by prosecutor Adriana Saccone, of the Rosario Prosecutor’s Office, succeeding Javier Arzubi Calvo, and by adjuvant prosecutors María Virginia Sosa and Soledad García, of the Office of Economic Crimes, Human Trafficking and Other Complex Crimes of the Investigation and Trial Area of Complex Cases.
The hearing took place last Friday before Guarantor Judge Román Lanzón. So they decided to charge SS, J’s daughter He has lived in Los Angeles, USA for almost 40 years.. The woman was present via video call and had the defense of Gustavo E. Feldman, who requested dismissal but was denied.
The truth is that the 88-year-old woman will undergo medical and psychiatric examinations to determine whether she understands the criminality of her actions and confirms her diagnosis.
But if the person who had taken care of the young woman since childhood and who was looking for her after Corrientes was J, why is her daughter, who was living in another country at the time of her capture, being charged?
The end of exploitation
According to the hypothesis of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF), the exploitation lasted 22 years and ended on October 2 after the raid. But when the victim was transferred in 2003 at the age of 14, the current defendant was already living in the United States.
“The prosecutors have only formalized the charges against SS for the crime of human trafficking, with the aim of placing her in servitude in the form of foster care, which is further aggravated by the fact that they have thereby abused a situation of vulnerability and carried out the exploitation to the detriment of the victim,” they explained.
“They considered SS as the alleged perpetrator of the crime for the period between July 2022 and October 2025, assuming that from that date she took the place of her mother – also investigated in the tax file but not formally charged – in terms of control over everything that happened in the apartment 16 surveillance cameras and a mobile device given to the victim. “In this way, the exploitation continued and ensured its permanence during this period,” they stated.
This means that the court is currently accusing the daughter of exploitation for three years, but not the mother for the remaining 19 years (four of which involved a minor).
In addition, the defendant has two male brothers who were also not charged. Like her, one lives in the United States and another in Rosario. He visited her regularly and was also informed about the activities in the house.
The decision to charge the daughter was based on the fact that she was the one who gave instructions to her mother’s caregiver and took control of the cameras from her home in Los Angeles.
“We cannot ignore the entire previous journey and her arrival in Rosario, which is reflected in previous criminal behavior. We cannot attribute the capture to the daughter who lives in the United States because she has not been in foster care since her arrival, but we can since the lady’s health began to deteriorate in terms of control over what was happening in the house and we assume that this would have happened in 2022,” explained sources in the case.
And they warned: “She continued the exploitation because it brought her profit. Now the woman has three carers. And it is not that she was materially prevented from going out (by the victim), but she did not have socialization tools.” He never did anything other than be in that house and clean or take care of it“.
According to the accusation, the victim did not go to school, did not participate in extracurricular activities, was not socialized and took almost nothing from the house after the raid, as she did not identify herself as the owner of anything. He began holding a key to the property as the woman’s health deteriorated, they reported.
“Where was she supposed to go if she didn’t know anyone? She had nowhere to go, she had no money. She says they gave her a few dollars but she doesn’t know how to add or subtract, she doesn’t know and can’t say how much money she had and she didn’t take it, nor did they give it back to her. She didn’t believe she was working, she doesn’t recognize herself as a victim,” the accusing party explained.
What the defendant’s defense said
The defense rejects the accusation and requests that the defendant be dismissed. “You are accusing my client of preventing the alleged victim from socializing, but that is really ridiculous because she lives 9,000 miles away. My client’s first contact with this person was 12 years ago because she was already living abroad when she started living with her mother,” Feldman argued Clarion.
He also emphasized: “They accuse him of playing the role of the exploitative boss because his mother is suffering from Alzheimer’s.” This transfer of claims does not exist. When it is said that he represents the mother and begins to commit the crime – in 2022 – the alleged victim was 34 years old and had full and absolute autonomy to act. “I had a key to the house, I collected J’s pension and rent, I managed all the assets and purchases of the house.”
The truth is that the defense denies that the relationship was labor exploitation or oppression into servitude, calling it an “agreement.” However, he could not confirm whether he received compensation for the task or how much money was allocated for his work. The woman was never registered, she had no employer contributions or social work.
If she was like a daughter to the woman who cared for her, why didn’t she have her own space to rest like the rest of the family or access to the private healthcare system?
Feldman describes the surveillance cameras as “a fictitious construction.”
“They describe it as a concentration camp, but that’s not the case. because the place where the victim was staying had no cameras. Whoever installed these cameras explains that external and internal cameras are widely used these days, especially if someone has health problems and would need help in the event of an accident: “They were for security”he emphasized.
And he concluded: “When they brought her, my client was living in the United States. The autonomy and consent of a 14-year-old girl is not the same as that of a 34-year-old person.”
