Thiago Silva says goodbye to Fluminense athletes after elimination at Maracanã

The elimination of Fluminense against Vasco, in the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil, may have marked the last chapter of Thiago Silva in the tricolor jersey. After the defeat on penalties on Sunday evening (14), the defender said goodbye to his teammates in the Maracanã locker room and was able to anticipate his departure.

The defender and French idol has a contract with the club until mid-2026, but is not expected to defend the club next season. Although Ge confirms the farewell tone in the locker room, there is still no official definition of the defender’s next steps.

In this context, the possible goodbye revealed on Sunday evening could also be linked to a return to Europe, where the player’s family lives. Note that the Italian newspaper Reppublica recently revealed Milan’s possible interest in repatriating the Brazilian.

Fluminense eliminated

Tricolor beat Vasco 1-0 in regulation time, thanks to an own goal from Paulo Henrique and took the decision on penalties. John Kennedy and Canobbio were lost to Fluminense, while Léo Jardim became a hero on the other side.

In this context and in front of more than 65 thousand people, Tricolor bid farewell to what could have been the last appearance of the defender’s idol in the club jersey.
