
The future of Isago Silva, the 17-year-old son of defender Thiago Silva, entered a new chapter this week. The young full-back has signed his first professional contract with the Chelsea academy. He arrived at the London club while still under 13 years old.

The contract signing marks Issago’s final move into the professional environment and confirms Chelsea’s confidence in his development. The Brazilian, who primarily plays on the left side of defence, has been highlighted internally for his maturity and reading of the game.

In February, Isago made his debut for the Under-18s, helping the team beat Leicester City 3-1. Months later, he signed a so-called “scholarship”, a document that allows the player to train full-time and officially join more advanced youth teams.
In October, the young full-back was called up to join the England Under-15 squad. During the same period, his name appeared on Chelsea’s list to face Ajax in the Champions League.
