Isago Silva, the son of Fluminense defender Thiago Silva, is close to following in his father’s footsteps. At the age of 17, the defender, who plays as a defender and left-back, signed his first professional contract with Chelsea, the club he joined at the under-13 level.
“We are delighted to announce that Chelsea academy defender Isago Silva has signed his first professional contract with the club. Congratulations Isago!” Chelsea wrote on social media.
At the age of 16, Isago Silva made his debut for Chelsea’s under-18 team against Leicester City. This season he featured in the 3-3 draw with Sheffield United in the Under-18 Premier League Cup, as well as playing three matches in the Under-17 Premier League Cup.
In July, Isago actually signed his first contract with Chelsea, but without a professional contract. He signed the scholarship, a scholarship signed by the English underage clubs which serves as the first official league. According to the rules of the Football Association, the English Football Association, young people under the age of 17 cannot sign employment contracts.
Isago turned 17 on November 12 and was ready to sign his first professional contract with Chelsea. He is the eldest son of Thiago Silva, one of the stars of the London club.
Thiago Silva played for Chelsea from 2020 to 2023. Although he returned to Fluminense last year, his family remained in London. In addition to Isago, the younger Iago also plays for the English club. They both follow their father’s path and play as defenders.
