The housewife, still shaken, shared photos before and after the robbery on Reddit. “We have been robbed,” he wrote, alerting the community to possible online sales of the missing items. The images show that the few items that remained were destroyed and scattered across the lawn.
The owner of the residence informed the online forum that he has filed a police report and that police are investigating the matter. “A report has been registered and police will contact neighbors in the front and side who have security cameras to check the footage,” he said.
The post generated a wave of comments from people recounting similar experiences and offering solidarity. “I’m so sorry. This happened to us in 2007-2008. Seeing this brings back sad memories. My condolences to you and your family,” one user wrote. Another recalled: “Someone stole Baby Jesus from my parents many years ago for their nativity scene. That seems like one of the most absurd things anyone could steal.”
Local residents highlighted Windcrest’s Christmas tradition, known for its elaborate decorations and dazzling lights that attract visitors from across the region. “Going to see the lights of Windcrest is like a rite of passage for children in San Antonio and the surrounding areas,” one resident commented on Facebook. The annual Windcrest Light-Up event has been held for decades and allows homes to compete in decorating categories.
Some users expressed hope that the items would be recovered. “Oh this is so heartbreaking. Our little girl loved her house. I pray you find it and don’t let them steal your Christmas joy,” one user wrote.
Despite the incident, the owner of the residence remains hopeful that the thief will be able to return the decorations in time for the celebration.
