MADRID, December 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Israeli police on Monday arrested the last of three suspected perpetrators of an attack on an Arab-Israeli woman on Saturday in the town of Yafo, on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, an incident that sparked protests from the Arab-Israeli community.
Hours earlier, law enforcement arrested the other two suspects, who are currently being questioned in the Ayalon district anti-crime unit, according to the Times of Israel. The newspaper also points out that the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court has issued an embargo order on information related to this case.
The three suspects attacked a 30-year-old woman identified as Hanan abú Shehadé with pepper spray while she was driving a vehicle with her two children. According to Arab media, the attackers insulted her with racist phrases and one of her seven-year-old daughters was spat on, events that provoked outrage in this community.
The police attribute the conflict to an argument, but the family points the finger at a racist attack. Up to 15 Israeli Arabs were arrested for participating in Saturday’s spontaneous protests and were released on Monday.
