
The nation’s health ministry reported this weekend that it had been detected a case of measles in Entre Ríos. The onset of symptoms was recorded at the end of November Fever, generalized rash and upper respiratory symptomsreported the state government. The Director General of Epidemiology, Diego Garcilazo, stressed the importance of immediate and timely measures to ensure the surveillance and control of the case and the search for epidemiological links, pointing out: “Starting from suspicion, the isolation of the patient began, the control of vaccination records and the monitoring of possible symptoms in close contacts.”
He also announced that the surveillance team would step up epidemiological investigations on Monday, evaluate new sample collections and continue lockdown measures.
On Monday, the Chilean government issued an epidemiological warning and called for an increase in vaccinations due to the increase in measles cases in Argentina. “The call is clear not to get involved in these anti-vaccine campaigns and not to believe this story and the misinformation,” asked the Secretary of the General Secretariat of the Chilean Government, Camila Vallejo Dowling.
“We have observed the increase in measles cases in Argentina and that has led us to take measures as a government to prevent the measles infection from reaching our country. That is why we have increased the call for vaccination awareness,” the Chilean official said at a news conference.
