The PSOE arrives at this meeting with Miguel Angel Gallardo as a candidate, in a unique context, being the first candidate to be head of the electoral list prosecuted for alleged crimes of influence peddling and administrative prevarication.
The socialist leader appears while awaiting trial and with accusations of having “maneuvered” to achieve his power. In addition, in May he will have to appear in court to initiate proceedings in the case of the alleged irregular hiring of David Sánchezbrother of the president of the government, Pedro Sánchez, to the Provincial Delegation of Badajoz in 2017.
Despite his accusation, Gallardo succeeds the deceased Guillermo Fernández Varacandidate of the PSOE in the regional elections of May 2023. He does so without having gone through the primaries, as would be usual, due to the “exceptional” situation which caused the surprise calling of the elections.

Promotion of broad agreement with parties and social agents to guarantee sufficient funding, sustainability of the system and health care guaranteeing equal access throughout the territory.

Strengthen primary care with an increase in the number of professionals and resources, devoting more time to each patient and allocating greater investment to this level of care.

Public rehabilitation program with the establishment of an accessible service without a waiting list, integrated into primary care and also available in rural areas.

Screening and early detection. Screening tests for cancer, rare diseases and serious pathologies will be improved, according to European and national standards, with rapid results without delay.

Extension of neonatal analysis to early detect rare diseases and risks of disability, accompanied by more genetic consultations.

Chronic disease care. Care and rights will be guaranteed for people suffering from long-term illnesses, with resources adapted to their needs.

Safe and humanized birth. Care will be strengthened with more midwives, a reduction in unnecessary C-sections and improvements to delivery rooms in all health zones.

Modern treatments in the SES. The Extremadura Health Service will incorporate innovative and updated therapies to expand the portfolio of services available.

Creation of convalescence centers in each health zone, rehabilitation spaces for brain injuries and a public bank of orthoprosthetic equipment and visual aids, prioritizing minors and the elderly.

Mental health and suicide prevention. A comprehensive plan will be developed with more psychologists and psychiatrists, particular attention to children and young people, school programs and resources to detect suicide risks and support those affected.

Educational support for children with special needs. The continuity of therapies and specific supports for students with special educational needs will be guaranteed, avoiding interruptions when moving from one academic stage to another.

Joint initiatives between schools and social services to strengthen the quality of education and promote a more balanced family environment.

Supporting elite athletes with scholarships and comprehensive physical, emotional and mental health programs, as well as support for balancing studies and a sporting career.

Youth Pact. An agreement will be promoted that generates investments, new opportunities and encourages the active participation of young people in public life.

Programs that facilitate access to the job market for vocational training graduates, promoting their professional integration.

Proposal for a new economic model that combines energy, industry and technology so that the wealth generated remains in the region.

Establishment of an economic support system for self-employed workers and small businesses which combines the split advance of subsidies with a tax reduction during their first years of activity.

Plan that facilitates procedures for companies, cooperatives and self-employed workers, with a one-stop shop and technical assistance to accelerate strategic industrial projects.

Creation of a fund aimed at promoting digitalization, environmental sustainability and technological modernization of Extremadura companies.

The energy boost to industry that guarantees sufficient electricity supply for key industrial projects and new energies will be reserved for attracting investments to Extremadura.

Promoting the creation of business groups in agro-industry and health technologies, among other sectors, to improve competitiveness and innovation.

Development of sustainable industrial zones, with stable electricity, fiber optics and good transport infrastructure, to attract new businesses.

Launch of a specific plan for rural businesses, with aid for digitalization, online sales and quality certifications.

Strengthen local commerce with promotion, digitalization and logistics programs to facilitate online sales, improve distribution and support generational change in small businesses.

Development of a strategy for cooperatives and social enterprises, with priority in public procurement, and a “silver economy” plan aimed at generating jobs and opportunities for older people.

Recognition of the emancipation of young people as a right linked to access to affordable housing, decent employment and quality training.

Recovery of wealth tax. This tax will be reinstated for the wealthy and the revenue will be allocated to strengthening public services and housing policies.

Construction and rehabilitation of affordable housing. A thousand homes will be built and renovated for a maximum price of 90,000 euros.

Rehabilitation of empty rural houses. 5,000 unoccupied houses in cities will be put into operation, with affordable rents, to establish the population and combat depopulation.

Loans and assistance for the first home. Interest-free loans and financial assistance will be offered to young people and families who want to buy or rent for the first time.

New models of shared housing. Alternatives such as co-housing and coliving will be encouraged, taking advantage of empty buildings and promoting intergenerational coexistence.

Control of tourist rentals with regularization of the prices of vacation apartments to avoid speculation and favor residential rentals in areas with a housing shortage.

Solutions to evictions, such as activating emergency measures to protect people at risk of social exclusion and guarantee housing alternatives.

Creation of a thousand public places in residences and preparation of a list of housing and rooms at fair prices, also supporting those who benefit from a scholarship.

Universal accessibility in new homes. All public and sheltered housing must be accessible to people with reduced mobility, ensuring equal access to housing.
