
Three Goiás military police officers died this Thursday afternoon (25/12), following a car accident. The three men were off duty during the Christmas holidays and were involved in a collision between a van and a passenger car, on GO-164, in the municipality of Firminópolis (GO). Two other people died in the accident. The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m.
The Military Police of the State of Goiás (PM-GO) published separate notes on the company’s website, deploring the death of each of the victims. “It is with immense regret that we announce the death of soldier João Paulo Marim Guimarães, born on 11/29/1993,” says one of the publications.
The other police officers killed in the car accident were soldiers Renato da Silva Duarte, 32, and Robson Luiz Fortuna Filho, 31.
“The Military Police of Goiás sympathizes with the family, friends and brothers in uniform. We hope that everyone will find strength and comfort to endure and overcome this moment of pain,” the statement said.
The locations and times of the wakes and burials of the three PMs, as well as the identities of the other victims, have not yet been revealed.

Governor’s demonstration
The governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União), published a post on social networks in which he said that the three police officers were not on duty. He also expressed solidarity with the deaths of the two other victims of the accident.
“In this moment of pain, I express my solidarity with all the family, friends and brothers in uniform, also offering my condolences to the families of the other victims affected by this accident,” Caiado wrote on the social network X.
