
A 35-year-old man managed to escape a kidnapping by jumping from a moving car on Saturday morning (13/12), in the municipality of Aracati, on the Ceará coast. The victim’s hands were tied and his mouth gagged when he escaped. A suspect has been arrested.
Security cameras recorded the moment a red car was driving along Rua Coronel Virgílio Távora when the man managed to open the rear door of the vehicle and throw himself onto the asphalt.
Even though he was injured, he got up and walked to get help, while the car left the scene at high speed.

According to the military police, the victim said he was approached, with two friends, by armed men on Praça das Carnaúbas, in the Várzea da Matriz neighborhood. The trio were captured and taken by force to a property in the area, where they were physically assaulted and threatened with death.
After fleeing, residents called police when they noticed a man walking through the streets with his arms tied. The victim went to the civil police station and confirmed that she had been kidnapped.
Based on the information provided, teams from the 30th Military Police Battalion located the property identified as a prison and arrested a 48-year-old suspect with an extensive criminal record. He was accused of kidnapping and forcible confinement, assault and battery and threats.
During the investigation, Tactical Force police officers found the two other victims, men aged 39 and 28, near BR-304. The vehicle used in the crime and a cell phone were also seized.
All those involved and the documents collected were sent to the Aracati Civil Police Station, where the case is still under investigation.
